Hi! Thank you for visiting us!
Our journey began in December 2016 when I found an abandoned baby goat in a field in Tennessee. I learned a couple of things about her entrance in this world: she had been born blind and likely abandoned by the mother because she couldn't keep up to nurse. And that a llama protected her throughout the night where she lay in the field. From the moment I held her in my arms, I nurtured and loved this sweet baby goat that I named Lulu.
My experience with Lulu made it very easy to become the guardian of about 40 farm animals in May 2018. Our "babies" now number over 70 and include miniature donkeys and ponies, horses, sheep, potbellied pigs, a llama, a large herd of Tennessee Fainting goats, chickens, cats and dogs.
In July 2019, the animals were transported 1300 miles to a new sanctuary - their forever home which is located on 36-acres in Yoder, Colorado, approximately 25 minutes east of Colorado Springs.
While this will always be a labor of love for me, it does get expensive. On average, it costs over $20,000 a year to take care of our animals at the sanctuary. By far, the largest cost is the approximate forty plus tons of hay they eat during the year which results in a hay bill exceeding $18,000. Other costs include special feed, vet, farrier and shearing services and building materials needed to ensure that each of the animals enjoy the best quality of life we can provide for them.
We look forward to partnering with you to help feed and care for these sweet animals or even commit to a monthly sponsorship of one (or more) of the animals. We welcome your involvement - to any extent. We also happily accept any surplus building materials that can be used to repair existing shelters or build new ones.
